Internet Marketing -- Who and What is an ISP and How can I Find One?

Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) are the companies that give you access to the Internet, an email address and that's about it. This does not necessarily mean that they host web sites. That is called a Web Hosting Service. In some cases they do both functions, but not always. There are thousands of ISPs that you can read about at the links below.

Tom’s TIP:  If you travel a lot it would be nice if your ISP had regional or national coverage which means you will be able to dial into them toll free when you are traveling. Also, ask them about the types of connections they have and how many dial up numbers they have. You don't want to get busy signals all the time.

Some ISPs may give you web site space, but you must be sure that you can use your own domain name.
