Internet Marketing -- Other Browsers Can KILL Your
“LOOKS”
Learning how to use a little HTML code and tables can be VERY helpful to the appearance of your web pages; when people on the Internet are looking at your pages using a different browser then you. Making a web page is not like printing something on your printer. When you create a document to print on your laser or inkjet printer you pretty much know exactly what it is going to look like. Items you've put on the page are exactly where you saw them on the screen. Web pages are different. They can look completely different in different web browsers like Internet Explorer, Netscape and AOL. That's why as you create pages for your site you want to check how they look in those different systems. You might even ask friends with older or newer versions of the different browsers how it looks to them. It's really educational for you to look at your web site on other people's computers or a computer at your local library. You'll be very surprised at what you see. Here's a quick tip on picking fonts (typestyles) for your web site. In most cases you want to use standard typefaces like Helvetica and Times that are installed on virtually everyone's computer. That way you can be sure your text looks about the same everywhere it's seen. I highly recommend your purchase the book The Non Designers Web Book by Robin Williams (no, it's not the comedian) and read a little bit of it every day. You'll learn lots of the little details to turn your site from an amateur hack job into a polished professional looking and functioning site. AND DON'T TRY TO GET TOO FANCY. IT WILL HURT YOUR SALES! |
