Internet Marketing -- Bad Credit Cards Sometimes you get
a lemon. Can a BAD credit card be processed? I have had virtually no trouble with this, but with a different type of clientele or a different type of product you may have trouble. If the credit card is no good or over the limit, then the sale is never processed, and I never even see the attempted transaction. The cardholder may have an expired card or may be over his/her limit. The automatic system (real time processing) protects me from being bothered with these situations. If the customer really wants the product they can always mail in a check or money order (as long as you put your contact information on the site where they can see it). If the card is bad because the person ordering just stole it five minutes ago, then your system will process it as normal, and you will ship the product, and you won't know that the card was bad until it's too late. You will receive a "chargeback" from the credit card company because weeks or even months later the person that the card was stolen from reported that he/she never made the purchases. The chargeback means the money is taken out of your account and you MIGHT get a decent explanation of why this is happening, (sometimes the customer FORGOT they made the purchase) but in most cases you won't get a tremendous amount of detail. You're pretty much stuck. |
